Access to Aadhaar Online Services requires a valid, registered mobile number.

You can double-check that the mobile number you provided during enrollment or the most recent time you updated your Aadhaar information is correct.

Visit a Permanent Enrolment Centre to register your mobile phone number if you did not do so during your Aadhaar enrollment.

Aadhaar service enablement includes a wide range of areas, including government and non-government services, subsidies, pensions, scholarships, social benefits, banking, insurance, taxation, education, employment, healthcare, and so on. , it is crucial that the resident's Aadhaar information in the CIDR is correct and up-to-date.

Reasons for updating demographic information include:

  • Basic demographic information, such as a person's name and address, may change when people go through major life transitions like getting married. Due to relocation, both your address and mobile phone number may change. Life events, such as marriage, death, and others, can prompt residents to want to update their relatives' information. Residents may also choose to alter their contact information (telephone, email, etc.) for purely personal reasons.
  • As a result of shifts in service delivery mechanisms, citizens may need to update their declarations, add their mobile phone numbers to their CIDRs, etc.
  • Inaccuracies in the resident's demographic information due to mistakes made during enrollment. Due primarily to enrolment errors, updates to the "DoB/Age" and "Gender" fields can be anticipated.
  • As a resident of India can enroll anywhere in the country, it is possible for a person who speaks language "A" to be enrolled by an operator who speaks language "B," in which case the resident's local language of enrolment would be "B." There may come a time when the resident wishes to switch from the local language of enrollment to one of his or her choosing. If that's the case, then the Aadhaar letter needs to be revised to include the new language alongside the existing demographic information.
  • UIDAI may decide to notify residents to update their demographic information and submit the required document after verifying the availability and quality of POI, POA, and other documents collected during enrollment/update.

The need for a biometric update may result from:

  • Biometric information should be updated every 10 years if a resident has been enrolled since they were 15 years old.
  • Accidents and illnesses that compromise biometrics
  • With the widespread adoption of the Aadhaar identification system Authentication failures (called false rejects - where a correct resident with a valid Aadhaar number may be incorrectly rejected) caused by incorrect biometric capture or poor biometric quality captured at the time of enrolment may also prompt residents to request biometric updates. Better quality biometrics capture in the CIDR may become possible as technology advances.
  • UIDAI could determine a minimum standard for biometric quality during enrollment and updates. UIDAI may send out notifications to all citizens whose biometrics fall below a predetermined minimum.

These are the aspects of Aadhaar that can be modified:

Stats about the population

Information Collected May Include: Name, Address, Birthday/Age, Gender, Phone Number, Email Address, Relationship Status, and Consent to Share Personal Data

Data from biometric devices

Eye scan, fingerprint, and photo identification

As part of the UIDAI update procedure, a variety of Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents are accepted. Check out the list of supplementary materials

Update Methods

#1: Through the World Wide Web

In the Self-Service online mode, residents can change their address by submitting a request on the portal. The resident's Aadhaar number and mobile phone number are needed for portal access. The resident's identity is confirmed by sending a one-time password to their verified mobile phone. UIDAI's Update back-office will have a Verifier check the uploaded POA documents against the requested data after the update has been submitted by the resident. The resident's mobile phone number must be linked to their Aadhaar account in order to use this service.

To enroll permanently, step 2: go to an enrollment center

These are the channels through which citizens submit requests to have their demographic and biometric information updated with the assistance of a human operator at a Permanent Enrolment Centre. The operator will collect the necessary proof at the time of request acceptance. The Update request is submitted simultaneously with the verifier's document verification. UIDAI currently plans on implementing three different types of Assisted Updates:

a Alter Client-Side Measures

Updates can be made to all fields, including local language and biometric information.

Using a biometric check in the background to verify your identity.

Checking Paperwork

  • The areas requiring proof documents have been verified.
  • UIDAI-approved verifiers or onsite registrars perform the checks at the enrollment/update center.
  • When enrolling in DDSVP, verification steps should be taken in accordance with recommendations made by the DDSVP Committee.

Acknowledgement and Form Completion

  • Completed by the operator on the client update system whenever a resident requests it. Takes care of transliteration, grammar, spelling, etc. Each request for an update will require a biometric signature from the operator.

A confirmation receipt is issued to the resident, complete with a unique Update Request Number (URN) for future reference.

Biometric Update Process: Step 1 - Filling Application Form, Step 2 - Manual Verification of proof, Step 3 - Entry of Data into client software by operator, Step 4 - Biometric Authentication by Resident, Step 5 - Operator & Supervisor's Confirmation, Step 6 - Acknowledgement of Receipt

All fields related to personal information can be modified, including photos and regional languages.

Proof of Identity: Biometric Resident Authentication

Verification of Documents

  • All areas requiring paperwork have been checked and verified.
  • UIDAI-approved verifiers or onsite registrars perform the checks at the enrollment/update center.
  • During the enrollment process, the verification procedure should adhere to the guidelines established by the DDSVP Committee.

Completion of Forms and Acceptance

  • Perform by operator on resident-requested update client An Update Request Number (URN) acknowledgment receipt is sent to the resident so that the status of the request can be monitored. Each request for an update will require a biometric signature from the operator.

c Refresh via the AUA's POP system

Only a few Registrars who meet certain criteria will use this system and join the AUA. UIDAI may make available a software/API for the purpose of The Registrars chosen for these updates will be those already established as a trusted source for the particular demographic field in question.

Statistics: Statistical fields

To verify your identity, the AUA will use your biometric information; however, UIDAI reserves the right to employ other authentication methods. For instance, mobile OTP can be used to process update requests from this channel.

Every update request will require biometric authentication from the operator. That's why they need Aadhaar. The device or devices used will be subject to UIDAI's authentication standards.

UIDAI will accept the Registrar's verification process and Resident Authentication for the purpose of accepting the update. It is possible to collect scanned copies of documents electronically for auditing purposes. The Registrar may either store these copies against individual Update Request Numbers, Dates, and Times, or they may be made available in batches.

Completion of Forms and Acceptance

  • Processed by Registrar Operator (in-house or contracted) using Biometric Authentication Capable Device (e.g., Micro-ATM) Acknowledgement Receipt with Update Request Number (URN) is issued so that the status of the update can be monitored. Depending on the nature of the request, you may receive a printed receipt in addition to an SMS or email confirmation. A text message sent to the provided mobile phone could serve as confirmation of a mobile number change. Both electronic and printed receipts can be generated by the API. After completing an update request, the Registrar has the option of handing out printed receipts.
