Enabling and Disabling Debit Card Transactions
DEACTIVATE OR ACTIVATE DEBIT CARD TRANSACTIONS AT ATMs
Dear Valued Customer,
Per the latest guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), your debit card is automatically deactivated for online purchases, contactless payments, and international transactions.
Punjab National Bank (PNB) offers you multiple options to enable or disable your debit card whenever and wherever you want. You can access this feature through:
Additionally, you can also manage your debit card's transaction limits for ATM withdrawals, point-of-sale (POS) transactions, online shopping, and contactless payments using PNB's Internet Banking platform or PNB One mobile application whenever you please.
Below are the detailed steps to perform the aforementioned actions through different channels:
1. ENABLE OR DISABLE TRANSACTIONS USING INTERNET BANKING
- Log in to your Internet Banking account and navigate to the "Debit Card Enable/Disable" option under the "Value Added Services" tab
- Select the relevant account number associated with the card from the drop-down menu and click on "Continue"
- Provide the necessary details in the fields provided, including the "Card Number," "Expiry Date," and "Card Pin," and then click on "Submit"
- On the next page, choose the desired service option(s) - "ATM," "POS," and/or "E-commerce" - by selecting the appropriate radio button. Finally, click on "Continue"
- Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) that you receive on your registered mobile number and click on "Submit." The final page will confirm the successful update of your debit card preferences
2. MODIFY DEBIT CARD LIMITS USING INTERNET BANKING
- Login to your Internet Banking account and go to the "Debit Card Personalization" option under the "Value Added Services" tab
- Choose the relevant account number and select the service (ATM, Contactless, E-commerce, or POS Limit) for which you want to modify the limits from the drop-down menu. Then, click on "Continue"
- Enter the required details, such as the "Card Number," "Expiry Date," and "Card Pin," in the provided fields. Click on "Submit" once finished
- Next, input your desired new limits for ATM, Contactless, E-commerce, or POS transactions and click on "Update"
- Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click on "Submit." The final page will confirm the successful update of your limits
3. ACTIVATE OR DEACTIVATE DEBIT CARD THROUGH INTERNET BANKING
- Log in to your Internet Banking account and navigate to the "Debit Card On/Off" option under the "Value Added Services" tab
- Select the relevant account number to view all the debit cards linked to that account. Click on "Continue"
- On the next page, select the card you wish to activate or deactivate and click on "View Status"
- Enter your transaction password and click on "Switch Off" or "Switch On"
- The last page will display a success message
4. ENABLE OR DISABLE TRANSACTIONS USING ATMs
- Visit your nearest ATM and insert your debit card to access the banking menu
- Select your preferred language and then choose the "Card Services" option located at the top left corner of the following page
- Proceed by selecting the "Enable/Disable" option
- On the next page, choose from the available channels - ATM, POS, E-commerce, or NFC
- Select the desired option - "Domestic Enable," "International Enable," "Enable Both," "Domestic Disable," "International Disable," or "Disable Both"
- Press "Submit" to confirm your selection. A message confirming the successful transaction will appear on the screen
5. STEPS TO ENABLE OR DISABLE SERVICES OF DEBIT CARD USING PNB ONE
- To access PNB-ONE Mobile App, login using your credentials and click on the Services tab.
- Expand the Debit Cards section.
- Choose the option to enable or disable your debit card.
- Select the associated account number from the dropdown list.
- From the list, pick the specific debit card and provide the necessary details to enable or disable the services.
- Use the slider buttons to enable or disable the services for the chosen card.
- Confirm the enablement or disablement by entering your transaction password. The services will be successfully enabled or disabled.
6. Steps to toggle Debit Card ON/OFF using PNB ONE
- Open the PNB-ONE Mobile App and login with your credentials. Click on Services.
- Access the Debit Card On/Off option.
- Select the associated account number from the dropdown list.
- Pick the debit card from the dropdown list that you wish to block.
- Click on the option to temporarily lock the card.
- The card will be blocked and a success message will be displayed on the screen.
7. Steps to modify limits for card services through PNB ONE
- Open the PNB-ONE Mobile App and login with your credentials. Click on Services.
- Expand the Debit Cards section.
- Choose the respective option to update ATM limit, update POS limit, update Ecomm limit, or update contactless limit.
- Select the associated account number from the dropdown list.
- Select the debit card from the dropdown list and provide the necessary details to modify the limits.
- On the following page, check the current limit or applicable limit and input the new limit for ATM, POS, ECOMM, and CONTACTLESS. Proceed with the update.
- Confirm the request by entering your transaction password. The limits will be successfully modified.
8. Steps to block a debit card, enable or disable card services (domestic or international), and modify limits using IVR
- Call the bank's toll-free number - 1800 180 2222.
- Select the desired language for communication (Press 1 for Hindi, 2 for English).
- After selecting the language, press 2 to block a debit card and perform other card-related services.
- Next, press 2 if you know the debit card number and PIN.
- Then press to perform the desired action: 2 to block the card, 3 to change ATM PIN, 4 to enable or disable domestic transactions, 5 to enable or disable international transactions, 5 to know or update transaction limits for the debit card.
- To block the card, enter the 16-digit card number, followed by the 4-digit PIN, and confirm the card number. The card will be blocked.
- To enable or disable domestic transactions, enter the 16-digit card number, followed by the 4-digit PIN, and choose to enable (1) or disable (2) domestic transactions. Select the type of transaction (ATM, POS, ECOM, or contactless) and confirm. The services will be activated successfully.
- To enable or disable international transactions, enter the 16-digit card number, followed by the 4-digit PIN, and choose to enable (1) or disable (2) international transactions. Select the type of transaction (ATM, POS, ECOM, or contactless) and confirm. The services will be activated successfully.
- To know or update transaction limits, enter the 16-digit card number, followed by the 4-digit PIN.
Choose from the following options:
ATM Transaction Limit Enquiry (1) or Update ATM Transaction Limit (2),
POS Transaction Limit Enquiry (3) or Update POS Transaction Limit (4),
ECOM Transaction Limit Enquiry (5) or Update ECOM Transaction Limit (6),
Contactless Transaction Limit Enquiry (7) or Update Contactless Transaction Limit (8).
Enter the desired amount and a success SMS will be received.

- Access the Netbanking platform by visiting either https://pnbibanking.in or https://netpnb.com
- Select Retail Internet banking
- Choose the option to Enable/Disable Debit Card
- Proceed to the Next Page and input the 16-Digit Account Number -> Continue
- Provide the 6-Digit OTP on the following page -> Continue
- Input Debit Card Number, Expiry Date, and Card PIN on the subsequent page for Verification -> Continue
- On the ensuing page, opt for the necessary Radio Button for ATM/POS/ECOMM/Contactless – Local/International/Global(Local & International)/No Access -> Continue
- Confirm the Modifications on the following page by clicking the Submit Button
- A Success Message will be displayed on the subsequent page indicating that Debit Card Preferences have been successfully updated
