If a fraudster tries to use Aadhaar to open a bank account and the bank does not conduct any due diligence, the account holder cannot be held liable. It's the same principle as when a fraudster uses a legitimate customer's credit card number to open a bank account in his or her name. The misuse of Aadhaar has not resulted in any monetary loss for any Aadhaar holder as of yet.

Mobile Aadhaar (mAadhaar) is more than just a replacement for the Aadhaar card. The local can receive the following advantages by downloading the mAadhaar app:

They just need to create an account in an app that can be downloaded on any smartphone to get started. However, only their registered mobile number will receive the OTP. Here are the steps you need to follow to create an Aadhaar profile:

1. Get the app going.
2. The Register Aadhaar button can be found in the main menu.
3. The profile can only be accessed with the 4-digit PIN you create (which you should remember).
4. Please provide a valid Aadhaar number and a correct Captcha answer.
5. Activate OTP and submit form
6. The registration of the profile is required.
7. The Aadhaar number associated with a registered name will now appear in the registered tab.
8. Select the "My Aadhaar" option from the drop-down menu.

Future updates, however, may incorporate the demographics-related features.

Both iOS and Android users have access to all features of the mAadhaar app. All devices (iOS, Android) have the same features and user experience.

No The mAadhaar App can be downloaded and used by any resident of India who possesses a suitable mobile device.

Only a subset of Aadhaar-enabled services (such as finding an enrollment center, verifying an existing Aadhaar, scanning a QR code, etc.) will be available to residents without a registered mobile number.

All the other Aadhaar services and Aadhaar Profile services available through My Aadhaar require a registered mobile number, though. In order to sign up, all a resident needs is access to a smartphone, and they can download an app. Nonetheless, only their registered mobile number will receive the OTP.

The mAadhaar app is available 24/7 in any Indian location. Mobile Aadhaar (mAadhaar) is more than just a replacement for the Aadhaar card. While the mAadhaar profile can be used as an ID at airports and on trains, its real utility lies in the resident's ability to use the app's features to share their eKYC or QR code with service providers who have sought Aadhaar verification of their customers before providing Aadhaar services.  

The Share Code and XML ZIP file can be easily shared between residents and service providers.

Users of this service are Aadhaar cardholders who wish to verify their identities with an OVSE by submitting digitally signed XML obtained from the UIDAI website. The service provider should be able to perform the offline verification using Aadhaar and the paperless offline e-KYC system.

Aadhaar Offline e-KYC Verification by Service Provider entails the following steps:

The contents of the XML file and the Share Code are confidential and may not be distributed by the Service Providers. In the event of noncompliance, legal action will be taken in accordance with Sections 17 and 25 of The Aadhaar (Authentication) Regulation, 2016, Sections 4 and 6 of The Aadhaar (Sharing of Information) Regulation, 2016, and Sections 29(2), 29(3), and 37 of The Aadhaar Act, 2016.

Below is a detailed description of how to generate Aadhaar Offline e-KYC:

• Visit the website at https://resident.uidai.gov.in/offlineaadhaar.
• To receive a one-time password, enter your "Aadhaar Number" or "VID" and the "Security Code" that the screen prompts you to enter, and then click "Send OTP" or "Enter TOTP." If you enter an Aadhaar or VID, an OTP will be sent to the mobile phone associated with that number. UIDAI's m-Aadhaar mobile application is where you can find TOTP. Type in the One-Time Password or OTP that you were given. If you have a Share Code, you can use it as the password to access the ZIP file before you download it.
• After following the aforementioned procedures, the Zip file containing the digitally signed XML will be downloaded to the device.

The service provider only needs the customer to present an identity document (PAN card, passport, etc.) in order to verify the customer's identity. All these potential forms of identification have the risk of being forged or faked, and instant offline verification of their authenticity is questionable at best. The verifier of documents must rely on the producer's word for the accuracy of the information they contain because no technological means exist to independently confirm the document's legitimacy. On the other hand, the XML file generated by the Aadhaar number holder using Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC is a digitally signed document using the UIDAI digital signature. As a result, the service provider can confirm the accuracy of the file's demographic information during the offline verification process.

Anyone with an Aadhaar number can use this secure document for ID verification in person.

A resident who wishes to make use of this service must first visit the UIDAI resident portal in order to create digitally signed Aadhaar details. Name, Address, Photo, Gender, DOB, hash of registered Mobile Number, hash of registered Email Address, and Reference ID consisting of the last 4 digits of Aadhaar Number and a time stamp will all be included in the digitally signed XML file containing the details. Service providers/Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) will be able to use the Offline Aadhaar Verification facility without having to collect or store any individual's Aadhaar number.
