In order to open a Zerodha Demat Account online, there are several steps that need to be followed in sequence.

Firstly, you should click on the provided link to access the Zerodha account opening website and register your mobile number. Finally, provide your personal details such as marital status, mother's name, trading experience, annual income, occupation, etc.

Providing your bank details is necessary to link your account. This involves entering essential information such as your IFSC code, bank account number, and confirming it. You must also agree to the terms and conditions before proceeding to the next step. Once done, click continue to proceed.

To complete your in-person verification via webcam, you must copy the OTP displayed on the screen onto white paper and hold it up for the camera to capture without obstruction.

To open an account with Zerodha, upload documents that serve as proof of income, signature (signed in blue or black ink on white paper), and bank account. A copy of your PAN card must also be provided. It must not be in pdf format.

Document Upload

After the upload, proceed to electronically sign for the equity or commodity segment. During this step in Zerodha account opening, the E-sign process and OTP are required.
E-Sign Verification
If your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar, an OTP will be sent for the e-sign process. If not, you can opt to print and courier the equity and commodity form to Zerodha's head office address.

Aadhaar Sign-Up
To complete the verification, click on the "Esign Equity" option and enter the security code sent to your email address. You will also need to input your Aadhaar number and request an OTP. The OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

You have not yet electronically signed your application form for trading commodities. In order to do so, you must provide proof of income and click the "continue" button on the e-sign page for your commodity trading application.



To complete the commodity e-sign process, simply enter your AADHAAR number and click on the "request OTP" button. Once you receive the OTP on your mobile device, enter it into the appropriate field on the page.

Once you have completed the equity and commodity e-sign process, click the "Finish" button to conclude your online Zerodha account opening. After your account is fully opened, you can log in to Zerodha and start buying and selling shares using the Zerodha trading platform and its various order types on the Kite application.


If your mobile device is not linked to your AADHAAR card, you can still open a Zerodha demat account offline. Simply follow the steps detailed above and complete the IPV. Then, download the equity and commodity form, sign it, and send it via courier to Zerodha's headquarters. It may take up to eight days for your Zerodha demat account to become active.
To open a demat and trading account offline, you will need to provide a copy of your AADHAAR card, PAN card, and a bank statement from the past six months (with IFSC, MICR, account number, and bank logo printed) or a personalized cancelled cheque with your name printed.
