To better manage your banking needs from the comfort of your phone or computer, HDFC Bank provides an array of digital banking features. One such feature allows HDFC debit cardholders to process online transactions using their mobile apps or internet banking websites. Below, we will outline a step-by-step guide on how to activate your HDFC debit card for online transactions.
Requirements for Activating HDFC Debit Card for Online Transactions
To enable e-Com transactions in your HDFC debit card, you must fulfill the following conditions:
HDFC Customer ID or User ID – You will require the HDFC Customer ID or User ID to access your internet banking account.
HDFC Internet Banking Password – Registered mobile number to receive One-Time Password (OTP) sent by the bank to enable online transactions on your card.
ATM PIN and Expiry Date – You will need the ATM PIN and expiry date of your HDFC debit card number to change your online transaction settings.
If you do not have an internet banking login, please register and remember your password. Alternatively, you can register on HDFC Mobile App and change your card settings from your mobile phone.
Methods for Activating HDFC Debit Card for Online Transactions
Two methods are available for changing your debit card control settings:
1. Using Internet Banking
2. Using HDFC Mobile App
Method 1 – Activation of HDFC Debit Card for Online Transactions through Internet Banking
Follow the instructions below to adjust your card control settings:
Open the HDFC net banking website on your computer/smartphone – https://netbanking.hdfcbank.com/
Enter your Customer ID or User ID and click the ‘Continue‘ button.
Enter your HDFC net banking password and select the correct Phrase-image Combo.
Once you have logged in to your account, select the “CARDS” option from the main menu.
To activate your HDFC Debit card for online transactions, follow these simple steps:
First, go to the “Debit Cards” section and choose “REQUEST.” Next, select “Set Card Usage/Limits” from the sub-menu. Pick a debit card from the list and hit the “Continue” button.
Now, access “Daily Domestic Usage/Limits” and turn “Online Usage” ON. Set the transaction limit for online transactions as well. To save your changes, click on the “Continue” button at the bottom of the page. On the subsequent screen, confirm your selection and then click on the “Continue” button once again.
Congratulations! Your HDFC Debit card is now unlocked for online transactions! You will get a confirmation via email and SMS shortly.
Here is another method to activate your HDFC Debit card for online transactions through the HDFC Mobile app:
Start by registering on the HDFC Mobile app with your customer id, mobile number, and the OTP received. Enter your four-digit Quick Access PIN and then select “Menu” from the top right corner. Then tap on the “PAY” option from the left side menu.
Find your Debit card and select “Show More” to access the “Customise” option. Toggle ON the Online option to permit online transactions on your HDFC Debit card. Use the slider to set the online spending limit. Once done, scroll down the page and tap on the “CONFIRM” button.
You will be requested to enter your ATM PIN and Expiry date on the new page in MM YY. This will complete the activation process of online transactions on HDFC Debit card.
To maintain your amended changes, kindly use the Continue option.
